On November 13, 2002, Mary Stachowisz, the gentle, devout Catholic mother of four, asked a Chicago homosexual man, Nicholas Gutierrez, 19, "Why do you want to have sex with a man instead of a woman?"

How many of us are ready, are prepared spiritually and catechically, "to fearlessly proclaim the complete and authentic truth on Christ, the Church and the world, without reductionism or ambiguities" (JPII, 9/01).

Mary Stachowicz was prepared and she did catechize the Word of God and she was brutally murdered for her beliefs. The hate crime was committed on November l3, 2002, the feast day of St. Frances Cabrini, virgin, the first U.S. Saint to be canonized.

Mary, the gentle, devout Catholic mother of four asked a Chicago homosexual man, Nicholas Gutierrez, 19, "Why do you want to have sex with a man instead of a woman?"

The perverted sodomite Gutierrez confessed to the crime during a videotaped interrogation and explained that he had become furious when Stachowicz asked him the question. He then became enraged and brutally punched and kicked Mary until he was too tired to continue, then he stabbed her all over her body. Mary was still alive. He then placed a garbage bag over her head, strangled her, and jammed her body into a crawl space under the floor of his Chicago apartment, which was above a funeral home. Her mutilated body was found three days after she was killed.

Mrs. Stachowicz was witnessing to her Christian religious faith and was murdered for it. Mary performed the appropriate Spiritual Work of Mercy...educate the ignorant, correct the sinner.

The secular news media refuse to touch this story because it's about sodomy.

And perhaps because legislation has been passed in the U.S. (New York State is one) to make it a punishable criminal offense to speak out against homosexuality. In New York City, the liberal Democrats have made it a crime to condemn homosexuality using bible verses or opinions on billboards. In Canada, it's illegal to speak one's convictions concerning the practice of homosexuality without penalty. TV and radio and print people in Canada cannot use bible passages that condemns homosexuality. Some Canadians have already been jailed for their opinions against the effects of the horrendous sodomy in their society. No, this is not Nazi Germany in the l940's. This is the United States and our closest neighbor, Canada!

Pro-homosexual Sen.Ted Kennedy is sponsoring a 'hate crimes' bill, Senate Bill S.625, which would give homosexuals more protection than any other group of people in the nation, against any opinions, thoughts and beliefs committed against them or to them. This is the criminalizing of Godly opinions, beliefs and thoughts instead of evil actions.

Only several of the total U.S. secular news pieces written about Mary's murder made it into the two Chicago news dailies, the scene of this chilling crime.

The Chicago Sun-Times, on November 18, carefully headlined, "Arrest in funeral home death." The day before it said, "Body found in funeral home was stabbed." On the same day, the Chicago Tribune said, "Body identified as missing woman." The last piece published in the Tribune (also on November 18) subtly headlined, "Quarrel preceded slaying, officials say." The subhead, small print, gave the only hint in Chicago about what really went on: "Suspect's lifestyle allegedly at issue." Could their silence be signaling that the homosexuals already have preferential treatment when it comes to 'hate crime' murders?

Most American's are already timid about speaking God's Truth on the mortal sin of sodomy, the great scourge dividing our nation in deep misery and confusion, without the added fear of being imprisoned for doing so.

Mary wasn't intimidated. Alas, she's soon forgotten, even though she was murdered less than 3 months ago. Where's the outrage from Christians? No one wants to talk about it.

"If a gay man had been murdered for trying to convince someone to be gay, it would be a national news story and be deemed a hate crime. But when a gay man murders a woman who tried to convince him to change, the media spike the story," said Peter LaBarbera, senior policy analyst for the Culture and Family Institute for Concerned Women for America. "If Matthew Shepard's murder deserved national media attention, then why not Mary Stachowicz's?"

Can you imagine the frenzy if 51 year old Mary Stachowicz, a devout Catholic mother of four, had murdered the 19-year-old homosexual? The media and the gay hordes would have screamed bloody 'hate crime' until Mary was publicly stoned to death in Chicago's Lincoln Park.

Mary Stachowicz's death parallels that of St. Maria Goretti, her namesake St. Maria was also brutally stabbed to death, many times, as she resisted her attacker, Alessandro Serenelli's sinful, lustful

advances.

Will we see Mary Stachowicz recognized by the Church someday for her courage? Will we ever witness Nicholas Gutierrez's repentance and return to God, as we witnessed the dramatic conversion of Alessandro Serenelli, Maria's murderer. Alessandro spent the rest of his life traveling the world to witness of God's mercy and forgiveness until his death in l970 at the Capuchin convent of Macerata where he lived out his life in reparation.

Let's keep this case alive before Americans' consciences, if America still has a conscience. Let's start by sending emails to the Illinois State's Attorney office: stateattorney@cookcountygov.com

They are prosecuting the case on Mary's behalf. Let's ask them to charge Mary's murder as a hate crime against Christians. It's clear and simple: Mr. Gutierrez killed Mrs. Stachowicz after she shared her religious beliefs with him. Now, that's hate.
