Planned Parenthood in Illinois Closes Some Centers, Keeps Abortion Clinics Open Because Women “Need” to Kill Their Babies

CHICAGO, IL While doctors across the country are being encouraged to put off non-urgent treatments because of the coronavirus, the abortion industry continues to use precious medical resources to abort unborn babies.

Abortions are not “essential,” either. According to National Right to Life, “Women have cited ‘social reasons,’ not mother’s health or rape/incest, as their motivation in approximately 93% of all abortions.”

In Illinois today, Planned Parenthood just announced that it will temporarily close 11 of its 17 facilities on Monday, and limit services to abortions and “family planning,” according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

It asked women to reschedule all “non-essential appointments,” and to call the offices if they suspect they have a urinary tract infection or need birth control, the report states.

“Planned Parenthood of Illinois is taking all necessary precautions to keep our staff and patients healthy and well. This temporary consolidation of services is just one part of that,” spokeswoman Amy Whitaker told the newspaper. “Patients will still need family planning services and abortion care during this time, and we are committed to providing it.”

In other words, the billion-dollar abortion “nonprofit” – which claims to be a trusted, essential women’s health care provider — is stopping almost all of its legitimate medical services during the world health crisis. However, it will continue to do non-essential, elective abortions.

Abortion activists’ priorities are all mixed up, and it is not just Planned Parenthood. A pro-abortion OB-GYN in Missouri expressed thankfulness Tuesday that abortions are still being provided, while admitting that she is struggling to decide whether to delay surgeries for patients with painful gynecological problems.

This focus on aborting unborn babies — especially when doctors’ time and medical resources are desperately needed to help save lives — should disturb Americans.

“Our hospital is asking us to delay non-urgent surgical cases,” wrote Dr. Amy Addante, a member of Physicians for Reproductive Health, on Twitter. “I struggle to determine which cases qualify for this. Fibroid patients with bleeding? Ovarian masses causing pain? Luckily, abortion care is not being impacted. How are others making these decisions?”

This focus on aborting unborn babies — especially when doctors’ time and medical resources are desperately needed to help save lives — should disturb Americans.

Abortions are not health care. They do not save lives. They destroy them. Unborn babies are unique, living human beings from the moment of conception, and they deserve a right to life. Abortions also can put women’s health at risk. Common complications include infections, blood clots, hemorrhaging and an incomplete abortion where parts of the baby remain inside the mother’s womb. Abortion risks include future preterm births, breast cancer, suicide, anxiety/depression, and death. And it simply is not true that abortions are safer than childbirth.

Abortions are not “essential,” either. According to National Right to Life, “Women have cited ‘social reasons,’ not mother’s health or rape/incest, as their motivation in approximately 93% of all abortions.”

It’s time for society to say enough is enough. It’s time to focus on saving lives, not killing them.
