FILIPINO Catholics celebrate today-s Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Catholics honor Mary as the Mother of Jesus, whose birth is celebrated on Christmas. However, Catholics also believe that God freed Mary from original sin, because she was to be the mother of Jesus. Mary Immaculate, the mother of Jesus, is the patron of the Philippines.
