In Lincoln and Peoria, as well as Rome, church bells pealed Tuesday to celebrate the election of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany as the new leader of the Catholic Church. The black crepe that adorned the doors of Holy Family Catholic Church to mourn the death of Pope John Paul II was removed and yellow and white streamers, the official colors of the Vatican flag, took their place.
