ICEL names new executive director

Father Andrew Wadsworth, a priest of the Diocese of Westminster, England, has been appointed executive director of the secretariat of the international body that prepares English translations of Mass texts. The secretariat of the International Commission on English in the Liturgy, based in Washington, announced the priest’s appointment March 30 and said the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments had approved the appointment. Father Wadsworth, 47, will take up his new post in September, succeeding Msgr. Bruce Harbert, who was appointed in 2002 after the Vatican ordered a reorganization of the commission.
