NOTRE DAME PROTESTS MOUNT AS BREACH BETWEEN UNIVERSITY AND CHURCH WIDENS AND AMBASSADOR MARY ANN GLENDON REFUSES LAETARE MEDAL

The consortium of protesting students has posted the schedule of Graduation events beginning Saturday evening May 16th and continuing on May 17th to which all are invited. See www.ndresponse.com for details and for updates. Please do your best to stand together with these courageous and dedicated young Catholics on the Notre Dame campus. The events will begin with Adoration Saturday evening opened by Bishop D’Arcy and will continue with Benediction and Mass on Sunday morning. These liturgies will be followed by a Rally featuring these outstanding speakers: Rev. Wilson Miscamble, CSC and Dr. David Solomon of the ND faculty; Rev. John J. Raphael, SSJ (ND ’89, Principal of St. Augustine H.S., New Orleans); Ellzabeth Naqin Borger (‘ND ’78, former Board Chairman of the Women’s Care Center); and Lacy Dodd (ND ’99, author of the moving account of her experience as a pregnant ND student we cite below). The day will conclude with a prayer Vigil for Life led by Father Frank Pavonne, National Director of Priests for Life, to be attended by those seniors who choose not to attend the graduation ceremonies, their families, and all joining them in prayerful protest.
