“CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF THE DIOCESE OF PEORIA FORCED TO REDUCE PROGRAMS AND STAFF”

“It is with a heavy heart and extreme concern that today at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Peoria we announce the beginning of plans to suspend or eliminate several critical Department of Human Service (DHS) funded programs for children, youth and families in our central Illinois communities,” says Bishop Daniel Jenky of the Diocese of Peoria and Chairman of the Board of Catholic Charities. The state budget impasse and a lack of resolution are having grave consequences in our communities all across the state for vulnerable children, youth, and families. Like many other human service providers we are now left with no choice except to end programs with eliminated funding and to begin staff reductions.
