Wait continues for new Catholic bishop for Springfield Diocese

The pope names two new bishops in America, whittling down the list of vacancies throughout the country to just three, with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield, Illinois, now waiting the longest. The Springfield Diocese has been without a bishop since early June of last year, when the Pope named then Bishop George Lucas to become the new Archbishop of Omaha. The other two vacancies are in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and LaCross, Wisconsin — both have been waiting since mid November of last year.
