SCUTTLING THE FUND TO PROTECT HUMAN LIFE

“Money that you think you’re giving for some good cause can go anywhere.”

Dr. Alfred J. Freddoso

NOTRE DAME, IN – Contributions to the Notre Dame Fund to Protect Human Life have been blocked by the university notwithstanding its agreement to accept such contributions and the major contributions of the Fund to the pro-life cause over the past four years. This subversion of the Fund through the repudiation of an agreement casts serious doubt on the depth of the university’s pro-life commitment.

If you have money you should be looking to promote certain [Catholic] initiatives. The first person you should talk to is David Solomon. The problem is that universities tend to assimilate anything you do within the university unless you’re very clever about it. Money that you think you’re giving for some good cause can go anywhere. You have to be very, very careful about exactly where the money is going and for what purpose it is being used.

Promises must be kept and contracts strictly observed to the extent that the commitments made in them are morally just.
