As we emerge from the dark and somber wilderness of the Lenten season, and begin our 50-day celebration of our Risen Lord, how renewed is our spirit, how recharged our enthusiasm for fulfilling our Gospel mandate! We seek to do no more than as Jesus commanded us:
And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. . .
And recalling perhaps especially now in this new time of persecution:
. . . and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.
As Catholic Citizens of Illinois, we have taken this mandate as our own, but in particular as faithful laity, struggling, yea demanding, to be heard in the public square.
This we do through this Internet site, our monthly Forum Luncheons, and our public witness.
If this is a mission that resonates with you, we welcome your support and more importantly your participation. Become a member of CCI ($40 per annum). Visit this site often. If you haven’t already, sign up for our weekly e-mail newsletter, bringing you the articles most important to a well-formed and faithful advocacy that we’ve posted across the prior week. Come to our monthly Forum Luncheons, where we present regularly the most highly qualified speakers addressing the hardest issues we’re facing as faithful Catholics. And of course, support us financially, to the extent that your means allow.
But most of all, in this season of rejoicing and hope, recommit yourselves, with us, “to teach ye all nations . . . to observe all that I’ve taught you,” and to resist with steadfast faith, any who try to stop us from doing so.
