It seems hard to believe, but it was five years ago that Catholic Citizens of Illinois made headlines defending Cardinal George against the famous “Francis the Corrector” letter in which 43 pastors refused, in writing, to be bossed around by the new guy. Catholic World News reported “Chicago’s new archbishop issued a statement on Tuesday that he does not feel embattled by a group of his priests after a lay group criticized a letter sent by those priests to the archbishop.”
