Today, the United State Senate confirmed Judge Sonia Sotomayor as the next Justice of the Supreme Court by a vote of 68-31. Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) President Wendy Wright said, “Sonia Sotomayor begins her tenure on the Supreme Court with a daunting challenge to live up to the standard she presented during her nomination hearing. She carries the burden of the public’s skepticism that she will follow the Constitution and law, not her ethnic experience or foreign laws, in her rulings. Her lifetime appointment will be a test as to whether she acted with integrity.”
