Strong denials that Pope backed homosexual civil partnerships

Miguel Woites, director of the Catholic Information Agency Argentina (AICA), today told ACI Prensa that the Pope Francisc, when he was Archbishop of Buenos Aires, never pushed for homosexual unions.

Woites, working in direct contact with the Episcopal Conference of Argentina, the Archbishop of Buenos Aires and the Apostolic Nunciature challenged the journalist Sergio Rubin, author of Cardinal Bergoglio interview “On the heaven and the earth ” which is the internationally designated sole source for the claim that the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires would have supported gay unions as a possible compromise with politicians.
