CCI NOTE: In an effort to clarify the proper boundries of ecumenism, John Paul II indicates that conversion to Christianity, and to acceptance of Christ and his sacraments through the Catholic faith in specific, are the goals of dialogue and communication. Too many in the Church has used ecumenism as a crutch for continuous dialogue with no ultimate attempt to convert those souls the one true faith. Hopefully JP2 will continue to clarify this distinction for the benefit of other nations (for example, the US, where the Bishops conference just released a “draft” letter that the Jews are already saved.)
