Jesus may have welcomed media attention to spread his message, but his portrayer, James Caviezel, was publicity shy in regards to his impassioned keynote speech for the 2004 Focus on Life fundraising dinner. Though interest in the annual event was at an all-time high — Right to Life Grand Rapids President Patricia Korte said this was the largest charity dinner of the year in the state — Caviezel, the reason for all the buzz, strictly prohibited any photos or film footage as he spoke. Signs outside DeVos Place downtown advised attendees that cameras and video equipment were prohibited. No interviews were given to the media before the event.
