Shunning isn’t an option: Knights of Columbus will “attempt to persuade,” but not expel, pro-abortion members.

Using language which has been included in their resolutions for some years now, the Knights of Columbus this week again resolved at their annual convention to forbid pro-abortion politicians from attending their events. The resolution forbids “bestowing on [dissenters] honors or privileges of our Order of any kind.” “That applies to public functions of any sort, and it is enforced,” Patrick Korten, the Knights’ Vice President for Communications, told California Catholic Daily. “We expect that council membership committees, when considering applications from potential new members, would take a person’s views on abortion and life issues into account.” The Knights also issued an official declaration opposed to the legalization of same-sex marriage, titled, “In Support of Natural Marriage.”
