Catholicism overtakes Anglicanism in England

CATHOLICISM is now the most popular form of Christianity in England, new figures have claimed. According to research carried out by the Christian Research organisation, there are now more Roman Catholics in England’s churches every Sunday than Anglicans, although the Church of England has been the established religion since the Reformation of the Middle Ages. The figures come as former Prime Minister Tony Blair converted to the historic denomination on Friday. The new figures show a decline in Anglican Sunday attendance to 852,000, down 20 per cent since the year 2000. However, attendance at Roman Catholic churches averaged 861,000.
